Yesterday we pulled the tank off to replace the bolts and also remove the KoubaLink and raise it back up with the stock one. (posts on that to come)
Part of that also was to remove the shock. Incredibly, as soon as we get it out and start looking at it we see that the adjusting rings had been “hammered” and hammered hard. That’s ok, they are an easy thing to replace. All you have to do is compress the spring, remove the lower collar, then spin them off to the bottom.
OH CRAP WHAT IS THAT?
That’s when we noticed that they stripped the threads and hammered them to boot. So the shock is shot. Nothing I can do with it. It’ll be a new shock, new spring for me.
UPDATE:
I found and bought an almost new shock from a fellow ADV rider Ralf ($375). It;s in great shape, low miles and has a beefier spring.
