One of my big stumbling blocks in mounting up the Safari Tanks (dual) was that I was missing the o-ring that sealed the adapter plate. The tanks came as extra parts with Kyle’s 690.

I couldn’t find the right one and was tempted to create one myself. I had reached out to Safari Tanks in Australia but hadn’t heard back. I thought I would try one more time.

I headed over to Amazon and BINGO! (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NJPXI70)

As I was also in the middle of putting my Taco Moto Fuel Pump assembly back together this was a great time to incorporate it – or at least the Adapter Plate. In a few days I had the right o-ring on my desk.

With the adapter plate, this o-ring would be sealing up against the tank itself.

I did have to get a little longer bolts, they might be in the bag of assorted bolts that came with the tanks but I bought brand new stainless M5 in the right length. I then blocked off the barbed outlet with a rubber end cap and was going to put a proper hose clamp on it but a little safety wire worked just fine.

UPDATE: 7/29/25
I hadn’t yet written this post, I was horribly behind in posting but a super cool guy saw my earlier post (Just part of the reason I am not running Safari Tanks) and sent me an email. He had the right o-ring and offered up his extra!

Scott – you are too cool!
It’s people like you who make this such a wonderful experience!
I told Scott that I had indeed found the right o-ring and had done a few rides with it on the bike and it’s sealing just fine! I just haven’t had the time to write the post. Here’s the adapter plate today with thousands of pretty hard miles on it.

You might notice that I replaced the stainless cap head bolts with more robust stainless socket head bolts.
Next up on the Safari Tanks is figuring out how to protect the radiator grill with Safari Tanks – as my current Flatland Racing guards will not work. Any ideas?
