It’s off to West Virginia to a very nice guy named Dakota. He didn’t do a fly and ride (but could have), instead he chose to have it shipped by https://www.motoshippers.com who came highly recommended by Luca at SoSo Cycles.
We finalized the deal on Monday, monies were wired, and then on Tuesday I mailed the Title and Dakota arranged the shipping. On Thursday night I got the text from Jeremy.
All in all it couldn’t have gone smoother.
I bought the bike at 19,551 miles around the middle of September in 2015. End mileage as it was rolling onto the trailer was
Maths tell me that I rode a total of 16,867 miles over 3,146 days of ownership (that would be 8 years, 7 months, 2 weeks and 2 days) which equals
- 5.3614 miles a day
- 37.529 miles a week
- 160.8423 miles a month
- or just 1,930.1080 miles a year
That’s really crappy but I know that I did ride it a bunch more frequently earlier than in later years. My mileage really dropped when I got the 690.
That said, the bike was awesome. It took me up the coast many many times. It took me up to catch the Full Solar Eclipse in Oregon with Ernie back in 2016. It took me to Death Valley, Mammoth, Tahoe and so many other cool places and trips. It only broke down on me once when the Regulator Rectifier went and fried the battery on the way up to Stonyford.
The bike was always comfortable – weather riding slab for thousands of miles or on the dusty and rutted fire trails near Yosemite. It was just as comfortable doing 100 MPH along a dirt road in Death Valley as it was just poking along looking at the beautiful landscapes.
Not to mention that this bike was also THE bike to put the wife on the back and get out of town for the weekend on. I certainly can’t do that with the 690!
I guess the whole point of this post is that the bike has certainly served me well. I thoroughly enjoyed it and while I never abused it, I rode it like it was supposed to be ridden. I’m going to miss it – but I am not going to regret selling it.
And there she goes!
Best of luck to you Dakota! I hope you enjoy the bike as much as I did!
