We packed up and waved good bye to Zion. On the way out – just as we left the big tunnel, one of the sheep posed for us at the top of the rock.
Originally we were going to try to make it to Mexican Hat taking a slightly more scenic route. Once we got to Mexican Hat we decided to keep moving and make it to Moab.
We stopped at the dam at Lake Powell. What a gorgeous body of water and such a great view!
Next stop was Mexican Hat. There’s not much too the town at all but just outside of town we got in a little dirt riding and a closer view of the rock the town is named for.
Just out of Mexican Hat we took the Moki Dugway. It was a short excursion but UBER scenic! I shot video from my helmet (uploading it now). If the video is half as good as being there – it’s going to be fantastic!
Down the highway we made it to Monument Valley. Awe inspiring and breath taking for sure. Just the magnitude of how big these rocks are and how expansive this land is. I know pictures and video just don’t convey the feeling you get when here.
Here’s a Pano of just part of it.
Remember when Forrest Gump was running across the country. Remember this road? We had to take a selfie.
Tomorrow: We’re based in Moab for a few days. From here we’ll be able to hit Island in the Sky, The Arches, and the White Rim Trail. We’re thinking of doing the Arches right now but plans may change.
